We enjoyed our Quality Review with Somerset Council and Frame Projects to assess the viability of delivering a Paragraph 84 house (new dwelling in open landscape of exceptional quality)

The panel thinks that with further refinement, there is scope for our design to meet the requirements of Paragraph 84 for exceptional quality. To achieve exception design requires further reviews, as expected and we were delighted with the feedback received:

  • The panel supports the idea of a low-lying building, with a flat roof, partly built into the landscape. The arrangement of the house around external courtyards gives a crisp containment which the panel welcomes.

  • The panel supports the proposed location of the house, which minimises the extent of vehicular access, has potential to work well with the contours, and in terms of visual impact.

  • The landscape design is based on a strong concept of rewilding the field, and this could support the case for Paragraph 84 approval
